The Summoner
Will
Will
Name: Estrildis Habrin Llewellyn
Meaning: Estrildis/Habrin: Folkloric royalty; Llewellyn: "Leader"
Nickname(s): Family nickname - Trilly
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Preference: Unknown
Studying: Philosophy, English Language, Law, Drama
Physical Appearances:
Tall and lean, Estrildis measures in at some 5' 9". Narrow hips and a lack of clearly defined feminine curves are indicators of either a late bloomer or, more likely, one destined to enjoy a tomboyish physique. She is slender, though not unhealthily so, and her musculature might indicate some form of exercise regimen.
Her hair is blonde and cut short and ragged, the styling indicative of one who honestly believes Marie Fredriksson's signature hairstyle can still be considered rebellious today. Her eyes are ice blue, framed by well-trimmed eyebrows a shade darker than her hair. Her complexion is pale for the most part, although freckles dot her cheeks during the warmer summer months. What makeup she applies is used sparingly, adhering slavishly to the idea that 'less is more'.
Trilly might be considered pretty, were it not for an austere and judgemental air that tarnishes what would otherwise be a picture of the Aryan ideal. Her features are sharp and pointed, her natural smile practically a lopsided sneer. Her mellifluous voice is a beguiling contralto. Carrying her heritage in every spoken word, it is probably the softest thing about her.
Piercings: Small piercing in each lobe.
Tattoos: None.
Other distinguishing features:
Three pale lines of scar tissue across the palm of her right hand, consistent with the talons of a bird of prey. Whatever the social situation, she ensures her neck is obscured by a neckerchief.
Clothing Style:
Dark colours and pin-stripes are where it's at for Estrildis. She varies between conservatively apportioned pantsuits in charcoal grey or black velvet, and ankle-length skirts accompanied by high-necked blouses and navel-length jackets. The one flash of colour that pervades everything she wears is a sunshine yellow chiffon neckerchief, the origin of which is unknown.
While participating in the performing arts, she naturally wears whatever the role commands, although she has declined leading parts that would have required her to bare her neck. Her approach to casual attire is no less eccentric, generally considering suits a hair lighter than navy blue or charcoal grey 'appropriate for lounging'.

Strengths:
- Incisive Intellect. Estrildis prides herself on her capacity to outwit and outmanoeuvre others. Particularly, she excels at logic puzzles and the mental dissection of complex problems into their component parts. From there, she can generally provide a planned solution to things others might consider insurmountable crises.
- Obfuscation. While largely an unsympathetic and judgemental individual by nature, Estrildis has a gift, when she chooses to use it, for concealing her true motivations and thoughts behind a mask of convoluted prose and a fake smile. She has almost total mastery of her facial expressions, and has spent years attempting to train herself beyond microexpressions with varying degrees of success. This may go some way to explaining her gift for acting.
- Athleticism. Despite her carefully constructed, conservative appearance, Estrildis observes an exhaustive regimen of active hobbies that includes equestrianism, falconry, free climbing and freerunning. She keeps this part of her life, save for the equestrianism and falconry, to herself as much as possible.
Weaknesses:
- Uncompromising. Once Estrildis has set herself upon a course of action, she is fixated upon it and will not willingly divert or re-evaluate. Further to this, she has shown in the past a propensity to sabotage the efforts of those who would force her in group efforts to pursue a different plan, certain in the knowledge that her way is the only way.
- Unsympathetic. Estrildis has difficulty seeing things from any perspective but her own; her rather ad hoc ergo propter hoc rationale in this being that she is logical, ergo she is right, and anyone with a different opinion must therefore be wrong. This extends to her capacities to understand the troubles and feelings of others, and often succeeds in making her already frigid exterior seem unintentionally glacial.
- Eco-Fury. All of the carefully constructed veneer that Estrildis presents to the world - unimpassioned, thoughtful, rational to a fault - melts when she witnesses cruelty to animals. She is an omnivore, and accepts contentedly that there is a natural order to things - but cruelty for its own sake drives her to violence. Ironically, man's inhumanity to man impacts her far less than man's inhumanity to kittens.
- Paranoid. Whether paranoia has caused her detached psychology, or her paranoia is a function of that detachment, it is undeniable that Estrildis is paranoid. She takes any laughter personally, and while she rarely lashes out, she takes mental note of all perceived transgressions against her, resolving to pay them back with interest. This can hamper both her objectivity and her mental focus.
Fears:
- Failure. Nothing frightens Estrildis more than the idea that she shall fail in an appointed duty. She endeavours to avoid accepting additional responsibilities for that very reason - because once she has accepted a task, she cannot allow it to fail.
- Enclosed, urban areas. A child of the misty, Welsh countryside, Estrildis despises inner cities for their filth and pollution - both environmental and, as she would put it, demographic. More than detestation, however, she fears them - the alleyways that close in, the all-pervading darkness, the flotsam of human existance, all combine to give her worst nightmares physical form.
- Harm coming to Antoinette. If there is a single being in the world Estrildis believes is more important than herself, it is Antoinette, her beloved peregrine falcon. One might go so far as to say her 'familiar'. Ever at her beck and call, Estrildis lives in fear that one day she will whistle for Antoinette, and there shall be no answer.
Personality:
Estrildis is, to all intents and purposes, a driven, austere egomaniac. Cold and distant, judgemental and unforgiving, it is a great irony that animals find her as endearing as they do. Her trust is difficult to win for any creature, though slightly easier for animals than humans.
She tells herself that the reason she finds the simple minds of animals so much more enjoyable to entertain is they lack the intrigues of humans - and yet she, herself, is a personification of those intrigues. Perhaps it is as one of her favourite philosophers once observed: "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you."
Family:
Her father, the Rt. Hon. Corineus Bladud Llewellyn, MP, and her mother, Gwendolen Medea Llewellyn (née Piper), have two younger children, twin boys called Geoffery Aethelred and Peregrine Arthur.
Background:
Estrildis Llewellyn is the eldest daughter of a long line of Tory, and occasionally Peelite, landowners from the Welsh borders. Not since Canning became Prime Minister have her family not had representation in either the upper or lower House. Against this backdrop, the dutiful Estrildis is driven by a desire to obtain political office before her father's inevitable retirement, and many of her neuroses are the direct result of the pressure this places upon her.
That is not to say she has been poorly parented - both of her parents are loving and provide as well for her as she could need. They are merely blind to her faults, and the part the legacy they have given her has played in their origination.
