On the surface, Haversham Manor is a top-class boarding school for the talented, wealthy, and privileged. Owned and run by Headmistress 'Sophie' Lamia, the regal manor house, surrounded by extensive and beautifully-landscaped grounds, is home only to those who have the money to be there, or the talent to acquire a scholarship.
What Haversham Manor actually is, is another matter entirely. The Headmistress is the Leader of the Lorekind High Council, and as such is not human. Many of her teachers are Immortals, and many of the pupils are the same. Siofra, Queen of Illusions, uses the school as a front, to both teach Immortals before they reach their Immortality, and to find those humans who might be half-breeds, or that rare mortal with abilities uncommon to their race.
Because she does not wish to (a) be burned at the stake, (b) bring in a plethora of paranormal investigators, or (c) be dissected, Siofra does not advertise her school as one for Lorekind. Those of the Lore know of her school and will send their children accordingly. Those not of the Lore still wish their children to be schooled at such an exclusive establishment, and who is Siofra to refuse them?
Classes are purely 'normal'; the curriculum is similar to that found in mortal schools; Siofra wishes to teach Immortals to be capable of functioning in mortal society without appearing abnormal. Extra classes are held catering to Immortals, but these are not in the brochure available to all.
Headmistress Lamia encourages creativity and individuality in her students; there are no regulations regarding hair-style, colour, or make-up. There is, however, a school uniform she expects to see her students wearing during school hours. This consists of navy trousers (or skirts), a white shirt, and a navy tie. During the cooler months this can be augmented with a navy blazer showing the school logo.
If a student wishes to wear a skirt, she is expected to wear white socks, or sheer pantyhose. If she wishes to wear a skirt in cooler weather and does not wish to wear socks or sheer 'hose, she is permitted to wear navy woollen tights.
There is little regulation regarding footwear, although students are not permitted to team boots with skirts; only shoes are allowed.
