More knowledge...more power... More wealth... More fighting...
An extinct race...
The Kalieæ. Proud and fierce, quick to anger, slow to forgive. To wrong a Kalieæ is to sign your own death certificate.
At least, it was. A breed-line splintered away from the Fair Folk, unwilling to cede the world to the humans, the Kalieæ were a warrior race, always seeking to command more and more ground; more knowledge; more wealth. They were always fighting within themselves, and although they were allied with the Veritatis, their skirmishing ways caused a war between them and the other Immortal races, as well as between themselves and mankind. A breakaway group decided to ally themselves with the Iniuria.
When fighting came to a head, with the creation of the Chosen Ones, the breakaway group was deemed to be traitors to their kind, and they were allotted a fate worse than death; their souls were ripped from their body and trapped in the Rift, forever to exist, but never to live.
The war had crippled the Kalieæn race; there were few pure-blooded members of the race remaining. Their numbers dwindled, only to be virtually snuffed-out when a secondary bout of Veritatis/Iniuria fighting broke out.
The only known Kalieæn survivors of that last war were the Chosen Ones, six of whom were destined to die - even as Immortals - in order to be reborn for the good of the Veritatis, and of mankind.
Siofra, Leader of the High Council and Dante, the Prophet of the Chosen, are the only living Kalieæ in today's society.
