What is an Immortal being?
An Immortal being is a two-fold thing. On the one hand, they live indefinitely (barring any arguments with heads-being-removed-from-body), and cease ageing once they reach their immortality (usually in their mid-20's, at their 'prime of life'). On the other hand, they are races known collectively as "The Lore" - creatures that humans believe only exist in the realms of fairy tales and myths.
They cannot, without special dispensation, reveal themselves as non-human to the human world, and it is rare this dispensation is given.
Immortal beings are not human, though when they are born and until they reach majority/immortality (as mentioned, generally around their mid-20's) they are mortal, and capable of dying/being killed as such.
A list of immortal//"Lore" beings can be found at the end of this post.
The Goodies and the Baddies.
There are two factions of the Immortal World (or the 'Lore'). The faction ruled by the High Council is known collectively as the Veritatis. The faction ruled by its own greed and determination to destroy the world of humans is known as the Iniuria.
Immortal Cans and Can'ts.
Immortals CAN...
-Live through a mortal injury.
-Live indefinitely.
-Live in a human world.
-Begin life as mortal (ie, they can be killed in 'normal' ways until they reach their Immortality).
-Mingle with other immortal species.
Immortals CAN'T...
-Survive beheading.
-Stop being immortal.
-Tell humans about their world (unless given express permission from the High Council in exceptional circumstances).
Reaching immortality.
This happens when a being of immortal race reaches the peak of their health/fitness/strength, when they are in what is often called 'the prime of life'.
