This Independent Study Session is for Chemistry revision, Theory of Physical Education, and Fashion's Portrayal in the Media. The class is overseen by Headmistress Atkins. Independent Study is being held in the smaller reading room, which is linked from the library. It is on the ground floor, decorated in blues and golds, and the bay window looks out onto the inner courtyard.

Egica looked up from his workbook.
The term was used loosely for little work ever seemed to take place within. It, along with the meticulously arranged stationary, served more as a prop than anything.
He had little interest in the media, fashion or how either one of the two interacted with the other. The fashion design course he had chosen was little more than an excuse to continue what he already enjoyed doing, making outfits.
Scanning the room for a useful individual he locked eyes with a girl from those already assembled in the room. He smiled a wide, wicked grin across his sharp, gaunt features. The girl shuddered and looked hurriedly down at her page.
Oh what sweet little creature, I believe I shall see her later. That relieves the effort of having to write something.
Finishing the rough sketch that had taken the place of any kind of prose, he reclined in his chair. There was just enough sun through the window to make him sleepy without the fear of tanning.
Blue and gold... how pretentious

[Leo Stillman - Late...oops]
Leo raced to the class, slowing down only when he reached the library and glanced at his watch when he was standing outside the classroom. He was ten minutes late. Steeling himself in preparation for the teacher having a massive go at him he pushed the door open and stepped into the blue and gold decorated room.
“Sorry I’m late?” he said sheepishly, smiling weakly at the headmistress who was overseeing this lesson.
He looked around and spotted the boy who gave him that odd look at breakfast. His smile faded a little. He couldn’t figure this boy out. Why had he taken an instant dislike to him? Leo hadn’t done anything to him or had even seen him before.
He looked back to the headmistress, hoping she would just let him sit down and forget about the whole incident. It was the first day after all.

Ruan Huojin ~ Watch must be running slow
Huojin reached the library with little trouble from other students, a sign that any normal person would take to mean they were running late. The blue and pink-haired boy just chalked it up to everyone else being very late or very early. It wasn't until he walked into the classroom and nearly ran over the athletic boy from breakfast that he realized he was late.
He smirked at the teacher, only to have it quickly fade as he realized it was the Headmistress teaching this class. Of all the classes to be late for. "Sorry, teach, my watch must be broken." He grinned at her, then quickly bounced over to an empty seat a couple of rows behind another familiar face. 'What are the odds that we would end up in the same study session?'
Hoping the teacher would let the late arrival pass, or at least, berate him after class, he quickly dug out his books and tried to hide behind them.

'What are the odds that we would end up in the same study session?'
Egica's reverie shattered around and his world convulsed. The voice seemed the pierce his brain like a needle. And not a sharp one.
Oh please not him.
His body stiffened and froze in much the manner of a startled feline, doodling stopped with a jarring scratch, before his head slowly turned to face the voice that aggravated him so.
"Ah Indeed." Egica looked around at the Library. "I can honestly say this is the last place I expected to see you."
It was then he noticed the other newcomer had managed to slink in apologetically. He smiled at the fellow without a singular scrap of sincerity.
It now occurred his habit of sitting away from everyone else had backfired as he had a disproportionate number of empty seats around him.
Curse it all! Did they leave the cages unlocked?

[[ Headmistress Atkins --- Tut tut. ]]
"Good morning Mr Stillman, Mr Ruan." Headmistress Atkins nodded to them both. "Please ensure your clocks and watches are set to the correct time. I would not like to see either of you late again." She added. "Please be seated and begin your studies."

[Leo Stillman - bypassing his brain]
Leo winced when the headmistress told both of them off and quickly sat down, nodding at the boy…Egica he remembered.
He was here for the theory of physical education, the bit of the course he didn’t really like because it meant sitting down and studying by himself which he always found boring unless it had something to do with history. Sport was about action, not about words!
He opened his textbook anyway and started to make notes, not much of it actually going through his conscious mind on it’s way through his eyes, down to his hand. He knew this would mean he would have to actually read the notes later but for now it was easier just to let his eyes and hand do the work while his mind thought about the tactics he would use in the upcoming games.
He glanced to the side and saw the pink and blue haired boy, Jin, trying to hide behind his books. He wondered what he was doing and tried to think back to what he said he studied but he really couldn’t remember…he couldn’t even remember whether he did tell him. He looked at the books. Ah, Chemistry. He wasn’t a great fan of the sciences himself.
He looked back to his own work and saw the pitiful state of his notes. His handwriting was always a lot worse when his brain was bypassed. Ah well…
Not as if anyone but me will read them anyway

[Ruan Huojin ~ ]
Huojin grinned slightly at the Headmistress, then turned his attention back to his notes, ignoring the comment that came from the other boy. Maybe he should take his sister's advice and actually learn how to set the alarm on his watch so he wouldn't be late again.
'Knowing my luck, though, it would go off in the middle of class and get me into even more trouble. Not to mention, it would probably give that freak Egica more reason to be himself.'
Glancing up from his notes, he looked around the room to see if any one else from their little breakfast meeting was in class with them. Not seeing any of the others, he allowed himself to relax and concentrate on his notes.
His concentration lasted all of about ten seconds before he began doodling in his notebook. He would have to read over the chapter later, but thankfully, chemical equations were one thing that actually seemed to stick in his head.

How dare that little pleb ignore me.
Egica's countenance darkened.
First he bothers me by talking and breathing and... Living and now he doesn't even have the decency to respond.
The lead of pencil he had been lazily plying upon the pages of his notebook snapped with and audible crack. Demurely placing it back in its properly place in the arrangement he selected another and continued.
Perhaps I overreacted to the sporting fellow.
No.
My reaction was perfectly justified, but even so...
Something about the boy bothered him. Something deep, familiar, niggling at the back of his mind. This grated even more that he couldn't rationalize it. He needed to understand
"Terribly sorry about breakfast... Mr Stillman, I think we got off to a bad start."

[Leo Stillman - Can I come down off the ceiling now?]
Leo had to resist jumping out of his skin when Egica spoke to him. Nobody had ever spoken to him in independent study before. Either they didn’t know him or they were too busy with their work to bother…that and his brain wasn’t usually active in theory of physical education anyway.
He turned to look back at the boy and smiled. Something seemed to be bothering him…perhaps he felt guilty?
“It isn’t a problem. I didn’t exactly reach out either…except for my food” he joked.
[Marshall Adams - Keep it down...]
Marshall looked up from his Chemistry revision, irritated. If the others didn’t stop chatting he would have to bring earplugs next time. He had both theory of physical education AND chemistry to get through and they really weren’t helping.
It was his fault for picking both Chemistry and physical education he guessed that he had to do two lessons at once but it wasn’t usually a problem. He was organised enough to study both at once. Obviously these three weren’t even disciplined enough to study one without getting distracted…pathetic.
Although he wasn’t much better…he should be stronger than he was but he never managed to surpass the others due to his weakness. He was physically fragile which meant he had to be very careful on the playing fields…what kind of a leader was he if he couldn’t even join his team? Not that he was a leader in the official sense.
He pushed these thoughts away for the moment, they were distracting him. He returned to his work and prayed that they others would just return to theirs.

[Ruan Huojin ~ 4Rt + PE2 = ?]
Huojin quickly grew bored with his doodling and glanced at the two boys that had been at breakfast. The vampire seemed to be trying to make an effort to get along with the athlete, even though from Huojin's angle, it looked like he was straining not to kill someone. Yes, lunch would definitely be outside today, far away from the homicidal art student.
Turning his attention away from the two boys, he saw another boy with a Chemistry book out. At least there was one other person in the room that he could have a conversation with without struggling to find a common topic. Huojin shifted his chair to face the other boy and asked the first question that popped into his head. "Do you know the chemical equation for bonding art students with athletes?"

[Marshall Adams - Unanswered prayers and a possible ally]
As usual Marshall’s prayers went unanswered as probably the most hyperactive boy in the class decided to turn around and ask him a rather stupid question. It wasn’t as if Marshall disliked talking in itself - although he rarely participated in conversation - it was just why did they have to do it at a time where they really should be concentrating on their studies? However he couldn’t be cold to the boy, he might end up poisoning his own interests. He decided to be polite instead.
“If there was a chemical equation for that I don’t think it has been discovered yet…though it would be an ionic bond most likely. Opposite charges” he gave a small smile.
He looked more closely at the boy. He might be the exact opposite of Marshall himself. Where Marshall had black hair with quite a lot of grey, much to the amusement of his less intelligent peers. The boy had blue hair with streaks of pink! But stranger things had happened than an alliance between them. Marshall resolved to wait and see.

[Ruan Huojin ~ Theories of Annoyance]
Huojin nodded slightly, quickly jotting down what the other boy had said in his notebook. "Then perhaps we should forgo the bookwork and study our classmates more carefully. We might be the first to discover the correct equation. It could radically change how high school students interact with each other." He was aware that the other boy probably thought he was out of his mind, but talking about something even vaguely related to class work was much more entertaining than actually reading the material in the book. Plus it annoyed Egica, and that in itself made interacting with a stranger worthwhile.
"I theorize that we shall have to observe this interaction for several days before we can see if the bond has truly formed. I'm Huojin, by the way, but you can call me Jin."

[Marshall Adams - Insanity and 'Marshy']
Marshall stared as Jin scribbled down what he had said in his notebook. Why did he do that? Maybe he wouldn’t be a good ally after all, he seemed to be quite insane. He discarded that thought. No, Jin wasn’t insane he was simply energetic. If he was insane would he really have been allowed to study in the school?
“Marshall Adams,” he said with one of his thin smiles “I’d rather you just called be Marshall than try to make up any nicknames” This usually came in the form of ‘marshy’ or similar and he…didn’t like it. Marshy was not the kind of name that earns respect.
“As for observing, we could do that,” it really wouldn’t be a bother and it couldn’t hurt “however I am not certain a bond will form. Some elements will not react with each other until an activation energy is added”

[Ruan Huojin ~ More Than Enough Energy]
Huojin grinned at Marshall. "Don't worry, I don't do the nickname thing. Well, not unless I'm trying to annoy someone." He was glad he had found at least one person who didn't look at him like he was a talking fish every time he opened his mouth. There had been enough of that in previous years of school.
"If my sister were here, she would say that I had more than enough energy to start any kind of reaction. But in this case, that would certainly lead to a volatile one. We'll just have to keep our eyes open and see what the gods send our way."
